Celebrating 50 Years of Orchestral Music

The Stratford Concert Orchestra, as it was originally called, was founded fifty years ago, performing light music. Its size and standards have made steady progress and it now performs the works of a Symphony Orchestra. There are currently nearly sixty playing members.
Programmes consist of a wide variety of well-known (and some less well-known) tuneful music ranging from the 17th to the 20th century. Solo works have featured members of the string, woodwind and brass sections. There are three concerts a year, one of which is the culmination of a weekend’s work with a professional conductor.
