Welcome to the Stratford-upon-Avon Symphony Orchestra website.
The Stratford-upon-Avon Symphony Orchestra was founded fifty years ago. Its size and standards have made steady progress; there are currently nearly sixty playing members.
Programmes consist of a wide variety of well-known (and some less well-known), tuneful music ranging from the 17th to the 20th century. Solo works have featured members of the string, woodwind and brass sections.

The committee and players are delighted to celebrate the first fifty years of the Orchestra's life. Five or six players first met in a private house in 1962. It all grew from that!
Our celebration concert on Sunday 25th March includes music covering a wide spectrum, reflecting the different genres played by the Orchestra at its different stages over the years.
There are some of the shorter pieces that the Orchestra used always to perform, and now that the Orchestra has grown in size and capability, a concerto and a symphony. complete the programme. Full details of the programme can be found on the Programme page.
We rehearse weekly on Friday evenings in Shottery Village Memorial Hall and give 3 concerts a year in Stratford-upon-Avon. Our summer concert is the culmination of a study weekend with a visiting professional.
